Malaysia's National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) has promised swift action following allegations of misconduct involving its Negri Sembilan director. The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has recommended disciplinary action be taken against the director, who allegedly ordered a raid on a nightclub for drug activity occurring at night, a violation of standard procedure.

The director was also alleged to have conducted the raid without the required approval from the Enforcement Division at NADA headquarters. If found guilty, the NADA will enforce actions against the staff according to existing laws.

"The National Anti-Drugs Agency does not tolerate misconduct or integrity breaches by its personnel," said NADA director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh.

Media reports stated that the EAIC referred its recommendation for disciplinary action to the National Anti-Drugs Agency's Disciplinary Authority.

Ruslin added that NADA would persist in working with the EAIC to maintain good governance and address integrity-related complaints. He also reminded all staff to execute their duties responsibly and with integrity, adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS).

The incident is a stark reminder of the need for rigorous oversight and accountability in Malaysia's law enforcement. This latest development is yet another example of the challenges facing Malaysia's anti-drug agency.
