Starvation, Harassment, and Exercise: Woman Reports Alleged Abuse by UP Man

Recently, a young woman from Ghaziabad accused her husband of tormenting her through harassment and torture, including forcing her to resemble actress Nora Fatehi through rigorous exercise. The husband, Shivam Ujjwal, was reportedly obsessed with Fatehi, bleaching his skin to look like the star himself. The woman also alleged dowry harassment.

The woman, in her complaint to the police, said her husband wanted her to look like actress Nora Fatehi, who is known for her stunning dance numbers in many Bollywood movies. To achieve this, he made her exercise for three hours every day, forcing her to walk on treadmills and do squats even when she was menstruating. Not only was this physically grueling, but he also didn't allow her to eat for long periods, causing her to feel weak and dizzy at times.

Shivam Ujjwal, an IT professional, reportedly made his wife exercise and follow a strict diet, giving her supplements and medication to lose weight. He would also often beat her if she didn't follow the regimen perfectly. Despite his abusive behavior, the wife mentions that her parents provided him with a smartphone and helped him get a job in Noida after their marriage.

This is not the first time a woman has accused her partner of such behavior. Sadly, many spouses are encouraged to strive for unrealistic beauty standards, leading to trauma, injury, and even death. This woman's courage to come forward and report the abuse is a crucial step in holding spousal abusers accountable and creating a safer, more inclusive environment.
