Petrol and diesel prices were revised today, 21 August 2022, across four metro cities. This is how much you will pay now for a litre of petrol and diesel in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.
The price of petrol in Delhi has been increased by INR 0.35 per litre, reaching INR 96.41 per litre today. Similarly, the price of diesel in the capital city has been increased by INR 0.41 per litre, reaching INR 89.80 per litre.
In Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, the price of petrol has been increased by INR 0.35 per litre to INR 111.19 per litre. On the other hand, the price of diesel has been increased by INR 0.40 per litre, reaching INR 94.85 per litre in the city.
In Chennai, the price of petrol has been increased by INR 0.24 per litre and is now INR 102.15 per litre. The price of diesel has been increased by INR 0.35 per litre and is now INR 92.94 per litre.
In Kolkata, the price of petrol has been increased by INR 0.35 per litre and is now INR 108.51 per litre. On the other hand, the price of diesel has been increased by INR 0.38 per litre and is now INR 92.48 per litre.
These price hikes have been attributed to the constant fluctuation in the global market and the increase in operating costs of oil companies.
Despite the increases, petrol and diesel prices remain under government control, with the government setting price caps every month.
