Growing up in a household with a drug-addicted parent would be difficult for any child. Chris Delgado knows this firsthand, which is why he's chosen to help support a new advocacy group for children who've gone through what his siblings did.
Today is National Overdose Awareness Day, a day to raise awareness of the crises that addiction and overdose deaths have on families and communities. Delgado is donating $2 million to help launch Angel Army, an overdose prevention initiative designed to combat the fentanyl crisis in Central Florida and across the nation.
"I chose to selectively deploy capital and time to end the plague of fentanyl because I saw the impact that it has on families, and I believe that we can make a difference," said Chris Delgado, who leads Goliath Ventures.
Delgado's donation will help the initiative grow its team, scale its operations, and provide support to children and families impacted by the opioid epidemic.
Angel Army is led by grieving parents and supported by Victorias Voice Foundation, which was founded in 2015 by Jackie and Dave Siegel after the loss of their daughter Victoria.
"I have witnessed the devastation and heartache of the opioid epidemic firsthand, and I believe that we can make a meaningful difference in the fight against fentanyl," said Delgado.
