A harrowing incident at Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport has left a four-year-old boy injured and his family traumatized. As the family prepared to board their flight to Malaysia, a security dog, allegedly unprovoked, bit the young boy, resulting in his parents canceling the trip.

The devastating incident, which occurred between departure gates 4A and 4B on August 12, was reported to the police a week later, with an FIR registered against the dog's handler for negligence. According to the boy's father, the dog, described as a German Shepherd, was accompanied by its handler, who was allegedly holding the leash when the animal attacked. The handler has been charged with being unable to control the dog, resulting in the severe injuries that marred the family's vacation plans.

Unfortunately, the child's injuries were severe enough to require a month-long course of anti-rabies vaccinations, leaving the family traumatized. The incident underscores the imperative need for stricter safety measures to ensure that such incidents are avoided in the future.

"We had to cancel our much-awaited trip to Malaysia as my son has to take rabies shots. I have lodged a complaint with the police as this is totally unacceptable," the boy's father stated. The complaint comes at a time when the nation is grappling with the Supreme Court's recent ruling on capturing stray dogs, which caused a surge in canine attacks.

This alarming trend sheds light on the desperate need for stricter safety protocols and adequate canine behavior training to ensure that similar incidents do not tarnish the traveling experience or jeopardize passengers' safety.
