Love Jihad 2.0: Hindu Men Targeted By Conversion Racket In UP

Officials expose disturbing 'Love Jihad 2.0' racket in Uttar Pradesh where Hindu men were targeted for religious conversion through marriage, manipulation and drug addiction.

In a shocking revelation, officials have exposed a disturbing racket dubbed 'Love Jihad 2.0' in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly targeting young Hindu men for religious conversion through marriage, manipulation and even drug addiction. Unlike previous cases that focused on converting Muslim women to Hinduism, this group is said to have focused on trapping Hindu men, luring them with promises of marriage, acceptance, or financial incentives. Officials have confirmed at least 4 arrests and mapped out the group's sprawling network across 14 states and more than 20 cities.

The group is said to have targeted vulnerable men such as students, teachers, and unemployed youth, gradually drawing them into relationships under the pretense of friendship or marriage. Once emotionally invested, the men were pressured to embrace Islam, often with promises of a shared future. Those who resisted were subjected to manipulation tactics and in several cases, introduced to addictive substances to keep them under control. Police allege that the intention was not just religious conversion but also to weaken family bonds and ensure the men's continued dependence on the gang.

One victim, a visually impaired government teacher, was befriended at a restaurant in Bareilly, where he was convinced that Islam would provide him with a second marriage opportunity. In another case, a coaching teacher struggling with depression was convinced that converting to Islam would provide him with solace and marry him to a Muslim woman. These cases highlight the concerning rise in religious conversion cases across Uttar Pradesh.

Police have seized incriminating items such as fake identity cards, encrypted mobile phones, and a large cache of drugs allegedly used to keep victims dependent. Officials confirm that more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
