US-India Strategic Partnership

Amid tariff tensions, India and the United States held a two+2 Intersessional Dialogue today. The talks were held between the ministers of foreign affairs and defence of both countries.

The focus of the talks was on increasing bilateral cooperation between the two nations. This includes enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, cybersecurity, and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. The two nations also discussed supply chain resilience and the climate crisis.

The talks were scheduled to run parallel to the Ukraine-Russia crisis, with both Russia and Ukraine being discussed. The impact of the crisis on food and energy security was a key point in this discussion.

The two nations aim to hold a full, formal two+2 dialogue later this year. This will be the fifth iteration of the dialogue since it was revived in 2018.

Quote: "Both sides agreed to hold the next full format 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in Washington D.C. later this year."

This dialogue amid tariff tensions will further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, which has been evolving over several years. The US and India share a wide-ranging partnership covering various aspects, including security, economy, technology, climate change, and global issues.
