This year, Navaratri marks the beginning of the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra revival. However, before you book your slot, please be aware of the new standards implemented by the Shrine Board for the safety of pilgrims.

The Yatra, which had to be suspended three months ago due to landslides and devastating floods, will resume on October 10, 2022, according to the Board. In addition, the Board has issued new rules for the pilgrimage, which reportedly will be in effect for the next six months.

According to the authorities, all visitors will have to register using their bio-metric data and produce COVID-19 vaccination certificates. Pilgrims without vaccinations will not be permitted. The management has also mandated that all pilgrims be dressed appropriately to enter the holy site.

The new rules are aimed at controlling the crowd and ensuring the safety of the pilgrims. The Shrine Board is also constructing a multi-level parking space in Katra, upgrading the main entrance, and widening the older path to the shrine.

"The yatra is resuming after three months. We have put in place all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the yatra. We have also made Covid-specific arrangements," said an official.

It is anticipated that the reopening of the pilgrimage site will greatly aid the local economy, which is largely dependent on religious tourism.

"I am thrilled to hear that the Yatra will resume soon. This is wonderful news for us locals as the Shrine Board's decision will boost the economy and bring much-needed relief," noted Katra-based tourist businessman, Virendra Singh.

The management is coordinating closely with the authorities to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all pilgrims.

"The Shrine Board is committed to ensuring the safety of all pilgrims while experiencing the sacred journey. We request all pilgrims to comply with the new guidelines to help ensure a safe and smooth Yatra for all," added the official.
