Cricket Association of Uttarakhand in 35 Lakh Scam

The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand has been accused of squandering 12 crore of funds allocated for state players and banana expenses are a focal point of this allegation. The case and ensuing scandal have resulted in a hearing with the Uttarakhand High Court.

It is alleged that between 2017 and 2022, former president Pratap Singh Ghuman and his associates siphoned off funds allocated for state cricketers by submitting fake expenditure reports and the Uttarakhand High Court hopes to reach an understanding of the truth behind these claims.

The petitioners claim that the cricket association has failed to provide the facilities promised to players, such as a dedicated ground and a cricket academy, and that the association instead used the funds for personal gains. They also allege that during the 2016 under-15 cricket camp, players were forced to sleep on the street due to inadequate accommodation being provided.

The court has deemed the response from the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand to be unsatisfactory and has given the board, BCCI, and the state's sports secretary until January 18th to file their responses to the allegations.

The case is just one instance of state cricket associations misusing funds and players' voices not being heard and shines a disturbing light on the administrative practices of the BCCI and its affiliates.
