Indian authorities have lauded Malaysian officials for their assistance in apprehending a notable drug lord. The wanted individual was found in a Kuala Lumpur hotel and arrested by Malaysian police in May.
The arrest of the 30-year-old man was disclosed by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain. The Malaysian police collaborated with the country's Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) to locate the suspect, who was hiding in a hotel room. The man, who entered Malaysia on a tourist visa this year, was found with no evidence of drug trafficking in Malaysia. The JSJN, however, continued to look into possible links to criminal organizations operating in the country.
The man was ultimately extradited to India, where the Express Indian newspaper reported on May 28 that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested him. According to reports, the syndicate that the man leads transports drugs worth RM635 million, including cocaine and marijuana, from the United States via cargo shipments.
This successful collaboration between the two nations is a major setback for international criminal networks and a testament to global law enforcement cooperation.
Razarudin remarked, "Further action and intelligence are being actively carried out by the JSJN to identify if the man has a network or is involved in secret society activities in Malaysia."
It is worth noting that thousands of people across the globe are currently being investigated or prosecuted for alleged criminal activity.
