Hyderabad, Telangana, June 23, 2025 – In a swift operation, excise sleuths in Hyderabad have arrested three individuals and seized a significant quantity of high-value illicit drugs in Neredmet. The haul includes 22 grams of MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) and 6 grams of 'OG Kush', a premium variant of cannabis, with a combined street value estimated at ₹1.75 lakh.

The arrested peddlers have been identified as Neeraj Kumar, Vinod Kumar, and Balaji. The bust followed a precise tip-off, leading officials to intercept a delivery rider who had brought the contraband into the city from Bengaluru. The rider was caught in the act of handing over the parcel to two local distributors, who were waiting to receive the drugs.

This incident underscores the evolving tactics of drug traffickers, who are increasingly leveraging courier services and inter-city networks to move narcotics. Hyderabad's enforcement agencies have been intensifying their crackdown on such operations. Just recently, the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) busted a major ring, seizing hundreds of kilograms of Chloral Hydrate and Alprazolam, highlighting the continuous efforts to disrupt drug supply chains originating from other states like Maharashtra and now Bengaluru. The use of cities like Bengaluru as source points for designer drugs and premium cannabis variants is a growing concern for law enforcement in Telangana.

Investigations are now underway to trace the full extent of this network, including the masterminds behind the Bengaluru supply line and any other local distribution points. Authorities are committed to dismantling these illicit operations to safeguard the youth and communities from the pervasive threat of drug abuse.
