Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, June 24, 2025 – Chhattisgarh Police have successfully dismantled a major inter-state drug trafficking network, arresting eight individuals from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh over the past three days. The operation led to the seizure of a total of 15 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy), striking a significant blow against the illicit drug trade in the region.

Bilaspur Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajendra Jaiswal detailed the multi-pronged operation, which began with intelligence that MDMA was being smuggled from Delhi via the Utkal Express. A suspect, identified as Pradeep Kumar, was apprehended as the train arrived at Uslapur Railway Station. His interrogation proved crucial, revealing the name of his Delhi-based supplier, Shubham.

Acting swiftly on new information about Shubham's presence in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and his planned journey to Bilaspur, police set up a checkpoint near Ratanpur. Here, Shubham was intercepted in a car along with three other suspects – Sumit, Ritesh, and Raju. A search of their vehicle also yielded MDMA, leading to a case being registered at Ratanpur Police Station under the NDPS Act.

In a separate but related incident, police received intelligence about another individual transporting MDMA on the Sampark Kranti Express. This led to the arrest of Vivek Kumar from Karauli district, Rajasthan, at the railway station, with approximately 3 grams of MDMA seized from his possession. A case has been registered at the Civil Lines police station.

ASP Jaiswal highlighted that intoxicants like MDMA are being supplied from Delhi to various districts across India, utilizing both railway parcel services and personal carriage. Investigations are ongoing to gather information on other individuals associated with this extensive network, underscoring the police's commitment to breaking the backbone of such inter-state drug operations
