In a spirited show of community strength and youth participation, Lucknow recently hosted a bike rally aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. Organised by local authorities and supported by various educational institutions and civil society groups, the rally brought together hundreds of students, teachers, police officers, and volunteers, all united by a single goal: to spread the message of a drug-free society.
The rally flagged off from the city’s iconic Hazratganj area and passed through major routes, capturing the attention of passersby with colourful banners, placards, and slogans urging people to say no to drugs. Participants rode bicycles decorated with anti-drug messages, emphasising healthy lifestyle choices and the importance of community vigilance.
Speakers at the event highlighted the rising threat of substance abuse among teenagers and young adults. They pointed out how easy access to drugs can destroy lives and families, and stressed the need for collective action involving parents, schools, and law enforcement to tackle the menace.
Senior police officials praised the initiative as a step towards building safer neighbourhoods. They assured that regular awareness drives and strict surveillance around schools and colleges would continue to curb drug peddling.
Many students said participating in the rally made them feel responsible for spreading the word among their peers. The event concluded with a pledge taken by all attendees to stand united against drugs and to educate at least five more people about its harmful effects.
Such campaigns, driven by community involvement and youth energy, play a crucial role in steering society towards a healthier, drug-free future.
