Meerut Murder Deja Vu: Ludhiana Man's Body Tied With Rope Found Stuffed In Blue Drum

What on the surface appeared to be a tragic rerun of the Meerut torture-murder case, last witnessed in 2015, has hit Ludhiana after local police discovered a body stuffed in a blue drum.

In what can only be termed as a gruesome discovery, the local police force recently found a body stuffed in a blue drum in Ludhiana, Punjab. The victim is believed to be a man aged around 40 years old. He was found wrapped in a bedsheet and tied with ropes inside the drum, which was subsequently recovered from the Raispuri village of Ludhiana.

According to the authorities, the man is yet to be identified, though they suspect that he was a rag-picker, who picked up the used drum somewhere in the city and subsequently sold it to someone else after dismantling it.

Investigating further, the police discovered that the victim had sustained severe injuries on his face and other parts of the body, suggesting that the very instrument, the drum, might have been used to bash his head in. Adding further details regarding the case, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ashwani Kapoor, stated that the victim was not known to be associated with any particular gang or cartel and might have been a victim of chance.

The discovery of the body has raised many questions on the legality and governance of the state, prompting the authorities to expedite their investigation to identify and bring to justice the people involved in this horrific crime.

In light of these events, questions have been raised regarding the safety of civilians and the effectiveness of the police in addressing such heinous crimes, particularly in the prevention of repeat occurrences.

Only time will tell whether the police will successfully identify the victim and the culprits responsible for this barbaric act.
