Cartridges, Dubai Links in Policed Seized in Malihabad

Poachers and criminal syndicates in Pakistan may have suffered a setback with the seizure of over 3000 cartridges in Uttar Pradesh's Malihabad. This comes as Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force recovered dozens of sophisticated firearms and a cache of ammunition from the residence of Hakim Salahuddin a practitioner of traditional medicine.

UP STF recovered 12-13 sophisticated firearms and over 3,000 cartridges from the residence of Hakim Salahuddin, a 72-year-old traditional medicine practitioner. Unbeknown to many, Hakim's house was used by anti-social elements for the illegal storage and transportation of the arms.

Salahuddin claimed to be uninvolved in these activities but was involved in poaching and illegal animal trade according to STF. These discoveries shed light on the possible inter-state and international implications of wildlife trafficking in Pakistan.

The cache discovered offers insight into the weaponry of choice for poachers and wildlife criminals in Pakistan. Given the amount of ammunition, the seizure also hints at the potential disruption of a large-scale poaching operation. With a crackdown on such activities, the seizure will have made a positive impact on the region's biodiversity and wildlife.
