Indian Railways just made it a whole lot easier for passengers to access all the information they need about their journeys. On Tuesday, the RailOne app was launched, bridging a gap in the country's efforts to digitize its railway system. Currently, the app is available for download on Android and iOS app stores, and it supports English and Hindi languages.
The app is a one-stop shop for anything related to Indian Railways. Passengers can quickly check schedules and train times, look up delays, and access booking information. But the benefits don't stop there. The app has a built-in ticket booking feature, allowing users to purchase e-tickets directly from the app. It also provides real-time tracking of trains, so passengers can know exactly where their train is and when it might arrive at the station.
Speaking at the launch event, Indian Railways Chief Executive Officer Vishwesh Chaube said the app was a part of the rail's administration's efforts to improve passenger services with the help of new technologies. "The RailOne app will bring all passenger services under one mobile button," Chaube said.
The launch of the app comes at a time when Indian Railways is increasingly focusing on improving its passenger facilities. Just last month, the country's largest rail network announced it would be offering fully Wi-Fi-enabled trains on select routes, giving passengers access to reliable wireless internet during their journeys.
