The IT sector in Q2 FY25 is experiencing a dynamic shift in skill demand, with growing emphasis on analytics, cybersecurity, and DevOps, according to the latest IT Staffing Quarterly Digital Skills Report by Quess Corp. While traditional programming languages continue to hold relevance, the report highlights a staggering 79% of total demand centered around five key skill areas: development (41%), ERP (20%), testing (9%), networking (5%), and data science (4%).
This evolving trend is largely driven by the rapid expansion of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) across India. Since FY22, Quess Corp has facilitated the placement of over 15,000 technology professionals in collaboration with more than 200 GCCs nationwide. CEO Kapil Joshi emphasized that this surge underscores India's position as a hub for high-end technological expertise, supported by the availability of skilled talent and a robust infrastructure.
The report also indicates that organizations are prioritizing upskilling initiatives to address this shift. Development roles, constituting the largest share of demand, reflect the increasing need for innovative software solutions, while ERP expertise highlights the push for streamlining enterprise operations. The focus on cybersecurity and analytics aligns with global trends of ensuring secure and data-driven decision-making processes.
The sustained growth in GCCs and evolving skill requirements mark a significant transformation in India’s IT ecosystem, paving the way for new opportunities for professionals and businesses alike. This shift underscores the need for continuous learning to stay competitive in the fast-changing tech landscape.
