Al Hilal has signed former Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan striker joins the Saudi Arabian club after three seasons at Anfield. Most notably, Nunez scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool.
The 25-year-old's unpredictable arrival continues the club's recent trend of acquiring former Premier League stars, signing David Ospina and Giorginio Wijnaldum last year. The transfer fee is reported to be in the region of $18 million.
"I feel very happy and excited to be here, and I'm eager to start training and compete," Nunez told the club's official website.
"I want to win all the titles with Al Hilal and for the supporters to cherish unforgettable moments," he added.
During his time at Anfield, Nunez's best season was his first, when he scored 22 goals in 40 games, including eight in the Champions League. He scored eight goals in his first 11 top-flight appearances for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp.
However, he was unable to replicate that form in his second and third seasons in England, managing only four goals in 34 matches across competitions last term.
It appears that both parties have decided to cut their ties, with Al Hilal presenting an exciting challenge for Nunez as he looks to regain his lethal form in front of goal.
