The Congress party in India has accused the BJP of deliberately stalling a bill to increase reservations in Telangana. This comes after a bill to increase reservations for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC) in Telangana, passed by the state assembly, was returned by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, asking for clarification on whether the bill was sent to her for approval or feedback.

The BJP has been accused of deliberately delaying the passage of the bill, with senior Congress leader and former minister, Shabbir Ali, stating that "This kind of political gimmick will not work. The Governor's verdict is unprecedented. The BJP is creating hurdles for the bill to increase reservations for the SC and ST populations".

The Congress party argues that the bill addresses an important issue regarding the welfare of those from underrepresented communities in Telangana, and the BJP should welcome its passage instead of creating barriers to its implementation.
