ChatGPT's new GPT-5 personalities what they do and how to use them

Today, OpenAI introduced four new chatbot personalities available exclusively to paying users of its ChatGPT platform but what exactly are these new personalities and how do you use them?

The four new personalities come with the recent launch of GPT-5, the company's newest chatbot model. Each personality has a distinct tone and style, allowing users to engage with the chatbot in various ways.

First up, we have the Cynic personality, which provides "critical and skeptical responses," according to OpenAI. If you want to be challenged and scrutinized on your assertions, this is the personality you should engage with.

Then there's the Robot personality, which, as its name suggests, communicates "fact-driven, linear responses." In other words, this chatbot personality is ideal if you want purely factual information without any embellishments.

Listener, the third personality, is designed to be more empathetic and "actively listens to users with caring and supportive responses," says OpenAI. It's like having a very good, objective friend who listens to all your problems without judgment.

Lastly, the Nerd personality type is obsessed with facts, data, and knowledge. This one is ideal for users who want detailed and well-sourced responses that are not too complex to understand.

So, how do you switch between these personalities? It's straightforward, actually. You simply need to type a command into the chat, and the chatbot will switch to the corresponding personality. OpenAI did not specify what these magic commands are, but it did hint that they will be intuitive and easy to remember.

We can expect more updates and improvements with new commands and functionalities as the chatbot continues to evolve. Stay tuned!

So, what do you think? Will you be trying out any of these new personalities?
