Store's Entire Inventory of Labubu Dolls Stolen in California

A store in La Puente, California was raided by masked thieves, who made off with the entire inventory of Labubu dolls, valued at around $7,000.

On August 6th, thieves broke into a doll shop called 'My Sweet Baby' in La Puente, California, and hauled away $7,000 worth of Labubu dolls. Labubu dolls are collectible figurines featuring bulbous heads and tiny limbs. The intruders used a stolen truck to make off with all the stock in the store.

Store owner, Kimberly Cho, told CBS News she installed security cameras in the shop after hearing about recent smash-and-grab crimes in the area. Unfortunately, the cameras were not pointed at the ceiling, so although the footage showed the suspects' masked faces and the stolen truck, it missed the actual robbery.

"I can't even imagine how many boxes they must have filled up," Cho said. "It's a feeling that I can't describe -- that helplessness."

The dolls are handmade in Japan, and each one has a unique look. Cho says it typically takes months to replenish her stock, which varied between 80-100 dolls at any given time.

Unfortunately, unsupervised outdoor parking lots have become an easy target for thieves, who often strike at night when no one is around.

"I just want people to be aware and to be careful," Cho said. "I don't want this to happen to anyone else."

This heist highlights the vulnerability of small businesses to rising theft and the importance of on-site security measures in retail establishments.
