Stealing Saga Commences on Dubai-Singapore Flight

You board a flight expecting a couple of hours of peace, maybe some in-flight entertainment and possibly a nap. Imagine your dismay when you realize that the content of your carry-on bag has been raided by a fellow passenger. This was the case for one unlucky Business Class passenger on a Singapore Airlines flight from Dubai to Singapore on August 8. A 25-year-old Chinese national was arrested at Changi Airport for allegedly stealing the passenger's bag, which contained valuables such as jewelry and electronic gadgets, totaling to over $1000 USD.

According to the Chinese daily, Lianhe Zaobao, the suspect had stayed in the overhead bin throughout the nearly seven-hour flight, barely touching the food he had ordered. Almost as soon as the flight landed, he hurried to grab his belongings and exit the plane, surprisingly ahead of other passengers who had longer to sit on the plane.

Stealing from a plane is brazen, but the odds of getting caught are high, especially on a flight with an extensive list of passengers to check. Only time will tell if the suspect will be brought to justice, but for now, it seems this stealing saga took place eight thousand meters above the ground.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
