Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated 184 newly constructed Type-VII Multi-Storey Flats here at Parliament House Estate.
The inauguration comes ahead of the winter session of the Parliament which is scheduled to begin on November 29. The complex is designed to be self-sufficient and is equipped with a full range of modern amenities to address the functional needs of the MPs. This includes facilities like parking, escalators, elevators, and solar energy generation.
In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said, Inaugurated Type-VII dwelling units for MPs in the Parliament House Estate today. These are based on sustainable living and will be allotted to new MPs who win the mandate of the people in the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.
He also shared a video of the residential complex on Twitter and wrote, These accommodations are a mark of Indias cultural heritage and inspire dignity in the lives of our MPs. They are a symbol of our Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat vision.
The construction of the multi-storey complex was completed in just 11 months despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the addition of these flats, the total number of accommodation units for MPs inside the Parliament Estate has now increased to 401.
The complex also includes a yoga deck, a garden, and a childcare center, among other amenities, for the MPs' wellbeing and convenience.
PM Modi's initiative to provide modern, functional housing for MPs is yet another step towards fostering a conducive and inclusive environment for democratic representation and political participation in India.
