Despite allegations leveled against the party,KN Rajanna, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in the BJP government in Karnataka, resigned on Monday, August 8, 2022. He admitted to irregularities in the revision of voter lists in the state, which was overseen by the Congress government.

During the tenure of the Congress government in the state, there were reportedly irregularities in the revision of voter lists in Maski and Basavakalyana constituencies in Bidar district ahead of the assembly elections in 2019. In July 2022, the Congress party submitted a memorandum to the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer alleging that the voting list revision process had been manipulated in over 150 constituencies. Congress claimed that there were 2.5 million bogus voters on the lists, which were revised ahead of the assembly elections in 2018 and 2019.

Rajanna, who was elected from the Maski constituency, offered his resignation from his post as Minister after admitting that irregularities occurred during the Congress government's tenure.
