Tejas MK-2 to Get Meteor Missile and Uttam Radar, Enabling strikes at 5,000 kmph

India's Tejas MK-2 fighter jet, the upgraded version of the country's lightweight fighter aircraft, is soon getting a powerful weapon upgrade that would enable it to strike at five-times the speed of sound.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is equipping the Tejas MK-2 with the Meteor missile and Uttam radar, both of which are designed and developed in India. The inclusion of these weapons will give a strong capability boost to the Tejas MK-2, allowing it to strike targets at a range of 200 km while flying at a speed of 5,000 km per hour.

The addition of the Meteor missile is particularly significant, as it is a top-of-the-line BVR (beyond visual range) weapon. Its features include a throttleable ramjet engine, an active radar seeker, and a two-way data link for enhanced target tracking and superior range.

With the Uttam radar onboard, the Tejas MK-2 can detect and track targets at long ranges and engage multiple targets simultaneously. This will significantly improve the overall performance and air-to-air capability of the Tejas MK-2, making it a formidable fighter jet on the global stage.

With this powerful weaponry and cutting-edge technology, the Tejas MK-2 is poised to become a crucial asset in India's defense arsenal, capable of meeting any aerial threat and protecting the nation's interests.
