Witness accounts and video footage paint a terrifying picture of a man 'in full military gear' opening fire with what looked like an assault rifle at a busy Target store in North Austin this past Sunday, leading to a chaotic, heart-stopping escape by customers.

According to eyewitnesses, the shooting occurred at approximately 2:30 pm at the Target store at the Arboretum shopping center. The gunman, who was dressed in military gear and wearing a helmet, fired the rifle at random people in the busy store. Police reports confirm that the suspect, a white male aged 32, was known to have mental health issues.

David Anderson, a shopper at the store, recounted the terrifying moment he witnessed the gunman firing his weapon.

"I just saw this guy in full military gear shooting an assault rifle. I ran for my life. It was complete chaos, people screaming, crying, running everywhere".

Another witness, Jane Doe, recounted seeing people hit the deck as the shooting commenced.

"It was terrifying. I had entered the store just as it happened. I saw a man fire an assault rifle at another man. The victim fell to the ground, and the shooter turned toward me. I froze fearing for my life".

Fortunately, quick-thinking police responded swiftly, detaining the suspect, and locking down the venue. There were no confirmed fatalities, but the attacker was strongly armed, and clearly, a very dangerous individual. Crisis negotiators were later sent to the scene to try and mediate a peaceful resolution with the suspect, now in custody.
