The Shiv Sena (UBT) organized a Jan Akrosh Morcha across the state, demanding the removal of tainted ministers. This comes after the Income Tax Department conducted raids at the residences of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Housing Minister Dilip Walse Patil among others, in connection with the Rs 1000 crore e-tenders scam.
Shiv Sena (UBT) party president and ex-chief minister Uddhav Thackeray led the protest march in Mumbai and criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, headed by Devendra Fadnavis, for shielding the corrupt ministers of the former Mahayuti alliance government.
According to reports, the Income Tax Department conducted raids on Thursday at the premises of at least three ministers of the previous government over alleged corruption involving the Rs 1000 crore e-tenders scam. The BJP, which earlier criticized the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for alleged corruption, has gone silent after the raids involving ministers from their party, said Uddhav.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) also criticized the BJP for what they call betraying the people's trust by forming a government with the NCP despite accusing them of corruption. The party further added that the people will give a befitting reply to this betrayal in the upcoming polls.
The protest march took place in other parts of the state, including Pune and Aurangabad, where people carried banners and raised slogans against the BJP government.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) has been critical of the BJP government in Maharashtra and has demanded the removal of tainted ministers. This protest is another way of putting pressure on the BJP and showing their dissatisfaction with the current political situation in the state.
Only time will tell what consequences these raids and protests will have on the future of Maharashtra's politics.
