SIR Row: Rahul Gandhi Alleges Countless Vote Thefts, BJP Asks Him To Say It On Oath

The Bihar row over the Special Investigation Team (SIT) re-investigating the death of teenage girl Minta Devi, allegedly killed by her classmates for uploading a socially inappropriate post, has escalated. In a stunning allegation, Rahul Gandhi, MP and former Congress party leader, claimed there are "countless cases similar to Minta Devi".

BJP leader Amit Malviya asks what proof Gandhi has for these allegations, and why he hasn't filed an oath for these cases if they are so apparent. Malviya alleges that Gandhi is "scared" and that the "picture is still not clear".

This controversy follows soon after the Bihar government's decision to disband the SIT investigating the case and transfer the members elsewhere. Bihar Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms, Ram Sevak Singh, justified the decision, claiming that the SIT had been formed without his department's approval.

Singh further stated that the case has now been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with the team headed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Maneesh, and that the CID has been instructed to complete the investigation quickly and submit a report within three months.

The case has garnered national attention due to its disturbing nature and potential implications for cybersecurity and online safety, especially of young women in India.

The BJP and Congress parties have criticised each other for their handling of the case and the broader issue of online safety, with both parties attempting to present themselves as more competent and empathetic.

The case is ongoing, and national attention will be watching the next moves from both the political and police fronts.
