IOA To Formally Approve India's Bid For 2030 Commonwealth Games During SGM

ultrasports.xyz writes:

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will convene a Special General Meeting (SGM) on January 2nd to formally approve India's bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

The IOA has already submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the event, with Ahmedabad selected as the host city. The EOI was submitted to the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) last year, and the SGM will serve as a formal validation of the bid.

"The IOA will convene the SGM on January 2 to discuss the adoption of the EOI submitted to the CGF for the Commonwealth Games," said IOA Secretary General, Rajeev Mehta.

If the IOA's plans for the meeting are anything to go by, the validation of the bid will be a formality, as Mehta continued,

"There is no hesitation or doubt about it, we will go with full force with the backing of the government."

The Indian government has already expressed its support for the bid and is willing to help in hosting the prestigious event. The introduction of this game will be a significant step up from the Indian Squash Masters which was hosted in the city of Chennai in January of this year.

The CGF, which is the governing body of the Commonwealth Games, has been encouraging countries to express their interest in hosting the 2030 Games for some time now. With the IOA's formal approval of the bid, India could become the frontrunner to host the event.

The 2030 Commonwealth Games could provide a much-needed boost to India's sporting infrastructure and inspire a new generation of athletes. The country has previously hosted the Games in 2010 in the city of New Delhi.

The CGF will announce the host city for the 2030 Games in mid-2023.

Ultimately, this exciting development will give the Indian people and athletes something to look forward to and work towards, while also leaving a lasting legacy of improved sports infrastructure and participation across the country.
