A man alleged to be linked to infamous gangster Goldy Brar has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police in connection with the September 2022 explosion at the Chandigarh club owned by rapper Badshah.
Deokin "Deepak" Singh was arrested on Thursday in Punjab's Rupnagar district, according to multiple reports. Police say he was allegedly involved in providing logistical support to the perpetrators of the blast at the MOB Lounge.
Police claim that Deepak was in constant contact with Brar, who had claimed responsibility for the blasts on social media. Following the explosion, which occurred during a concert at the club, Badshah's brother, Amannat Singh, was arrested on charges of aiding and abetting suicide bombers Adil and Hafiz, who were killed in the blast.
Badshah, whose real name is Amaal Shauqee, has not been charged with any crime and has denied any involvement in the explosion.
"We have arrested one more person, Deepak, in the Chandigarh bomb blast case. He was providing logistic support to the perpetrators,"Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Jasmeet Singh said.
Police said that Deepak had been involved in weapon-smuggling cases in the past.
Badshah has not been named in the investigation and has denied any involvement in the explosion.
"Music is my life, and I have been working hard to make people happy through my songs," the rapper said following the attack. "I want to thank the police and the authorities for their constant support and hard work in bringing the perpetrators to justice."
The Special Cell is investigating the case with the help of technical intelligence and other evidence. They are also trying to ascertain the identity of the main culprits behind the blast.
The rapper Badshah has not been named in the investigation and has denied any involvement in the explosion.
