Shivpal Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav, prominent figures of the Samajwadi Party, have zeroed in on the BJP's "Vision 2047" motto, accusing the UP government of neglecting present-day issues in their state.
The BJP's "Vision 2047" plan, unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent election campaign in Uttar Pradesh, underscores the party's goal of making India a developed nation by the 100th anniversary of its independence. While the plan has garnered attention for its ambitious goals a full three decades out, the SP leaders have chosen to focus on the here and now.
In a recent joint press conference, the leaders zeroed in on the myriad issues plaguing UP, from unemployment and economic distress to law and order problems and poor basic amenities. They claimed that the BJP government has failed to deliver on its promises and is instead opting for futuristic visions to distract from its shortcomings.
"The state government is more interested in showcasing fancy futuristic projects than addressing the issues impacting the lives of everyday citizens. It is a shame that the ruling party is completely oblivious to the rampant problems of unemployment, poverty, and failing basic services," said Akhilesh Yadav.
Shivpal Singh Yadav echoed these sentiments, arguing that the BJP government has failed to address the issues impacting the state's citizens. "They only care about securing their vote bank through divisive tactics and propaganda, while our focus will always be on developing UP and addressing the issues that affect our people today," he added.
As the SP leaders ramp up their criticism of the BJP, it remains to be seen how these tactics will affect the electoral landscape of Uttar Pradesh, poised to be a key battleground state in the upcoming polls.
