Cincinnati Masters: Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff progress in dominant style

Lucia Bronzetti was simply outclassed by Coco Gauff in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters as the Italian suffered a 6-1, 6-2 defeat on Tuesday.

The American rising star Gauff hit remarkably few unforced errors in the victory, finishing with 12 against Bronzetti's 31, and made her second-round tie completely one-sided.

The 18-year-old Gauff, who is ranked solely behind Swiatek in the WTA's Under-21 rankings, has now won 16 of her past 17 matches on hard courts and will be brimming with confidence as she eyes a deep run in Cincinnati.

Her opponent Bronzetti, who beat 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens in the first round, simply could not live with the power and precision of the American's groundstrokes and struggled to create any kind of rhythm.

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner maintained his impressive streak on hard courts as he knocked out Felix Auger-Aliassime, 6-0, 6-2, on Tuesday at the Cincinnati Masters.

The Italian phenomenon extended his winning streak on hard courts to an astonishing 25 matches, leaving the Canadian with plenty to ponder ahead of the US Open later this month.

After a tightly contested opening-round match against Stefanos Tsitsipas, it became clear early on against Auger-Aliassime that the Italian meant business, as he broke the Canadian's serve three times to claim the first set in just over half an hour.

The second set was tighter, with Auger-Aliassime fighting to stay alive, but Sinner managed to break his opponent's serve once more to seal the match and stay atop the ATP Live Race rankings.

Sinner, who won the Marin Cilic at the Croatia Open last month, will be heavily favored to reach the semifinals as he continues his quest for a second career title on the ATP Tour.

The 19-year-old Italian will face either Cameron Norrie or Frances Tiafoe in the third round.
