Mikel Arteta Asked Arsenal Players To Vote And Pick New Captain: 'Everybody Chose...'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has disclosed that he asked the Arsenal players to vote for a new captain after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was relieved of the duties.

The Spanish boss guided his players to an impressive win over Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday but there was one noticeable absence from the matchday squad - former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is now training away from the first team after falling out with Arteta.

Without the former skipper, Arteta's side have looked much improved defensively, conceding just one goal in the last five matches, but the Gunners fans are keen to see a new captain named as soon as possible with the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, and Martin Odegaard tipped to take the armband.

And Arteta has now revealed that he has indeed asked his players to vote for their new leader.

"I asked everybody in the dressing room, 'Who do you think should be the captain?' Everybody chose . That's the way it is," Arteta said. "Because I have done it in the past and it's always the same. You ask the players, 'Who should be the captain?' And everyone gives a different name.

"Because they all have different relationships, they see things in different ways, and that's fine. It's good. But then you have to make the decision that is right for the club, for the team, for the current situation, and that's it. It's not something that you do overnight."

Arteta did not reveal the name of the new captain, with no official announcement made by the club yet but the Spaniard did indicate that the decision would be made in collaboration with the Arsenal players.

"They have a big say," Arteta added. "They have to feel that this is the right person to take us where we want, and to represent the values that we want to represent as a team. It's not just myself making the decision."

Whoever gets the nod will be under pressure to deliver quickly with Arsenal facing a must-win Europa League game against Sparta Prague on Thursday night.

Arteta's men then face a daunting trip to face Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday, knowing that a defeat would see them fall 16 points behind the champions.

Title: Mikel Arteta Confirms Player Vote for New Arsenal Captain: 'Everybody Chose...'

Despite the ongoing drama surrounding Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal has thrived without the former captain, winning all four games and only conceding once.

Mikel Arteta has ignited a new fire in the team, and the players are voting for who they believe should be the new captain. Arteta has revealed that he asked the dressing room who they think should be captain, and everyone chose a different name.

Arteta has the challenging task of deciding who will be the best representative for the values and vision of the team. The Spanish manager insists that this choice will not be made overnight, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with the players.

There is no official announcement from the club yet, but it is clear that the new captain will be selected with the team's input and will be someone who inspires confidence and leadership.

This challenging period could be an opportunity for Arsenal to transform internal conflict into unity and triumph, with the team marching forward without Aubameyang and the new captain's influence yet to be seen.

It will be interesting to see who steps up and leads this Arsenal team forward.
