Over 750 children in Hyderabad just got safer on the roads, thanks to a summer camp hosted by Honda Motors and the Hyderabad Traffic Police. The camp, which reached over 97 lakh individuals across the country, aligns with the government's goal to reduce road accident deaths by 50% by 2030 and Honda's global vision of eliminating traffic fatalities by 2050.

The camp, held at Hyderabad Traffic Training Park, is just one of many conducted across 10 Traffic Training Parks and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers nationwide. It teaches students aged 10 to 15 traffic rules, pedestrian awareness, and road etiquette through practical simulations in the training park.

The sessions are designed to instill awareness and responsibility in navigating road conditions, with real-time traffic scenarios and self-development activities like self-defense, painting, dance, music, handwriting improvement, and personality building.

Road safety remains a significant challenge in India, which reports one of the highest rates of traffic fatalities globally. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the country recorded over 150,000 deaths in road accidents in recent years, with motorbike riders accounting for a large percentage of those casualties.

Education initiatives targeting young people are considered critical in developing long-term safety awareness, as habits formed early often persist into adulthood. This preventative approach addresses India's road safety challenges and is another step toward making zero traffic-related fatalities a reality.
