Drink driving crackdown nets 300 in Cyberabad

In a recent operation, the Cyberabad Traffic Police caught over 300 drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol, cracking down on a prevalent issue. The drive was carried out over the course of several weekends, with police setting up multiple checkposts across the city. The effort was spearheaded by the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, which coordinated the efforts of multiple teams.

The results of this campaign are telling: 305 people were detained for driving under the influence of alcohol. Of these, 242 were riding two-wheeled vehicles, 16 were driving three-wheeled vehicles, and 47 were behind the wheels of four-wheeled vehicles. These numbers suggest that drinkers are adopting risky driving habits on all types of vehicles. Law enforcement officials also noted that the highest number of incidents was reported in the Miyapur zone, with 52 citations, followed by 30 each in Balanagar and Chevella, and 28 in Shamshabad.

The police found that the age group most prone to drunk driving were the 31-40-year-olds, of which 116 were caught, with 92 citations belonging to the 21-30 age group, and 74 from the 41-50 age group. These figures highlight that the problem of drink driving is widespread across age groups in Cyberabad. All the perpetrators have been presented before the court for necessary legal proceedings.

These recent efforts by the Cyberabad police are part of a larger campaign to make the city's roads safer and reduce the number of alcohol-related accidents. While the problem is prevalent worldwide, the Cyberabad crackdown serves as an important reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving and the consequences of breaking the law. With road safety paramount on the agenda of lawmakers and law enforcement officers, drivers in Cyberabad and elsewhere in the country are likely to face stricter penalties for drunk driving in the future.
