Telangana Transport Department Appoints 96 AMVIs to Boost Road Safety

The Telangana government has prioritized road safety and enforcement by appointing 96 Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors (AMVIs) across the state. As many as 199 new hires were confirmed by the Chief Minister, which will contribute to enhanced enforcement of motor vehicle rules. This move aims to reduce the number of road accidents and improve tax collection. The state is prioritizing road safety awareness and enforcement, beginning with the appointment of these new AMVIs.

The large recruitment drive aims to address the shortage of critical personnel in enforcing road safety legislation. With 20 lives lost daily in road accidents in Telangana, the new hires will play a crucial role in enhancing road safety and reducing traffic collisions. The new recruits will wear many hats, including enforcing road rules, collecting taxes, and participating in road safety awareness campaigns.

Joining the Transport Department as AMVIs offers an opportunity for mechanical and automotive engineers to work in a uniform government role. Among the new appointees, Neha Jain expressed her enthusiasm and relief, having dreamt of this opportunity for a long time. Another appointee, Goutham, shared his feelings of responsibility and ambition to make an impact in tax collection and enforcement of road rules.

The Transport Department is also making efforts to improve vehicle fitness testing and road safety education in schools. The appointment of AMVIs and enhanced enforcement efforts reflect the government's priority to improve road safety and reduce traffic-related accidents and deaths in Telangana.
