NDLEA recovers over half a million tramadol pills in three states, highlighting increasing narcotics prevalence. The agency seizes various amounts in Kaduna, Gombe, and Kogi, arresting several suspects.
Last weekend, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized over half a million tramadol pills across three states, Kaduna, Gombe, and Kogi. The agency's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, revealed the seizures and arrests in a statement.
In Gombe, NDLEA recovered 128,000 capsules from Sani Mohammed at the Jauro Jatau area. A commercial bus driver heading from Onitsha to Kotangora was stopped by the agency in Kogi, leading to the seizure of 337,800 capsules. Additionally, 29,840 pills were seized in Wukari, Kaduna, from suspect Saleh Babangida.
The agency's operatives also seized 111.1kg of skunk in Kaduna, intercepted along the Zaria-Kano Road, and arrested two suspects: Caroline David and Abdulhadi Umar. Furthermore, the NDLEA destroyed 11,250kg of skunk seized in Taraba, clearing 4.5 hectares of farmland.
The agency's chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the efforts and urged officers to continue fighting drug abuse and trafficking. The statement highlighted increasing concerns about narcotics, with authorities seizing millions of pills nationwide.
