Tirumala laddu sales commence at ancient Tondamanadu temple near Srikalahasti

Amid the controversy surrounding the alleged presence of “animal fat” in the famous Tirumala laddu prasadams, the sale of the laddus has begun at the ancient temple of Lord Sri Abhaya Venkateswara Swamy in Tondamanadu village, near Srikalahasti, in the Tirupati district.

This launch coincides with the first Saturday of the ongoing 'peratasi' month, which is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has initiated the sale of laddu prasadam at the historic temple, which has a rich history spanning several centuries. The aim of this move is to cater to the devotees visiting Tondamanadu from the Srikalahasti region. The price of the laddu remains unchanged at ₹50 per piece.

The residents of Tondamanadu, a village that thrived during the reign of the Pallava and Chola kings, have expressed their joy at the commencement of the laddu sale at their temple. According to legend, the temple, dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, was built by Thondaman Chakravathy, whose name is immortalized in the sankeerthanas of saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya.
