Mumbai police have arrested notorious international drug kingpin Kubbawala Mustafa, pursuant to a Red Corner Notice issued by the INTERPOL. He was detained in the United Arab Emirates and was subsequently surrendered to Mumbai Police on July 11.
Mustafa, 44, is accused of operating a synthetic drug manufacturing facility in Sangli from abroad. He is the main accused in the Sangli Drugs Factory case, where Mumbai police confiscated 126.141 kg of mephedrone drugs.
Mustafa, who is originally from Surat, had completed his education in Mumbai before teaming up with his uncle, Salim Dola, who is also a key accused in the case. Mustafa was instrumental in supplying raw materials for mephedrone manufacture, and he routed the profits abroad through hawala routes.
According to a Central Bureau of Investigation spokesperson, Mustafa was brought back to India by the International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) of the CBI in collaboration with the National Central Bureau-Abu Dhabi. The Mumbai Police will now continue with the legal proceedings.
