Teachers are pillars of social development: Sudheer Reddy

Tirupati: Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Sudheer Reddy emphasized the vital role of teachers, calling them the foundation of India’s progress and the guiding force behind the nation’s youth, leading them toward a brighter future. He attended the two-day golden jubilee celebrations of the United Teachers Federation (UTF) Tirupati district branch on Sunday, which was chaired by its district president J J Rajasekhar. In his address, MLA Sudheer Reddy praised the transformative influence teachers have in shaping students’ lives, many of whom later become global scholars and scientists. “The historical and social importance of teaching cannot be overstated. Teachers have been instrumental in shaping numerous influential figures across the world,” he remarked.

He congratulated UTF on reaching this milestone and promised to address the challenges faced by educators. Former MLC Vithapu Balasubrahmanyam expressed concern over the declining enrollment in government schools, leading to the closure of many institutions. He attributed this trend to inconsistent government policies and warned that the education system could weaken unless corrective measures were urgently implemented. He urged UTF members to resist initiatives that harm government schools and to advocate for their improvement.

Dr. V Sekhar, Principal of the District Education Training Institute, encouraged teachers to adopt modern educational technologies and adjust their teaching methods to better meet individual student needs. UTF State honorary president Kommoju Srinivasa Rao called for the immediate implementation of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) for government employees and teachers, the payment of pending arrears totaling Rs 32,000 crore, and the restoration of the old pension scheme by abolishing the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). UTF State secretaries S S Naidu and Navakoteswara Rao, district secretary K Muthyala Reddy, and other prominent leaders and members also attended the celebrations. The event began with a rally of hundreds of teachers marching from the Ambedkar statue near the bus stand to the Kachapi Auditorium.
