Tirupati: Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy announced that the renowned Srikalahasti Institute of Technology (SKIT) will be integrated with JNTU within the next six months. He made this declaration during a press conference held at Uranduru, near Srikalahasti, on Wednesday, commemorating the 100th day of the NDA government at the state level. The MLA shared that the institution, a legacy of his late father, will soon begin the merger process, with the government order expected to be issued shortly. “We will restore the college's former glory and align it with the technological advancements of JNTU,” he said. Sudheer Reddy also discussed the allocation of Rs 50 lakh for the Srikalahasti municipality, which has been utilized to resolve drainage issues and mitigate flood risks. He highlighted initiatives aimed at addressing water shortages in rural areas, such as the drilling of borewells and the installation of streetlights in previously unlit villages. The MLA introduced a new method of monitoring sanitation in every panchayat by creating WhatsApp groups for daily oversight.
Reddy also mentioned notable developments at the Srikalahasti temple, including the removal of political banners from main streets and an increase in temple revenue, which reached Rs 4 crore in just 100 days. He committed to increasing the number of Rahu-Ketu poojas from 25,000 to 30,000, with plans to generate additional revenue for the temple. MLA Sudheer Reddy stressed that strict action is being taken to combat illegal activities in the constituency, such as matka betting and marijuana trafficking, and assured that offenders would face severe punishment. He reiterated that the continued development of the Srikalahasti constituency depends on the sustained leadership of the Telugu Desam Party.
