Im thankful to God that he has kept me alive: Musheer Khan

One man's survival is thanks to a generous gift from nature and the quick thinking of his friends.

It was the perfect day for a swim in the urban pond at Guindy National Park in Chennai. Musheer Khan and his friends had cycled all the way from their village to the city to enjoy a picnic and a dip. Little did they know that their lives would depend on a floating coconut that day.

"I am thankful to God that he kept me alive. I also wish to thank the coconut which saved my life," Musheer, now recovered, told the Times of India.

The friends jumped in the water and were having a good time when Musheer felt himself being pulled underwater. He didn't know what was happening and instinctively started to struggle. Suddenly, a flash of light appeared and he found himself on the surface, lying on a coconut that his friends had seen fall from a tree.

"It was a miracle that the coconut fell at the exact moment when I was drowning. Had it happened earlier or later, I would have drowned," Musheer said.

The friends quickly took Musheer to the nearby Government Medical College. He remained unconscious for nearly a day but has now made a full recovery.

"I have no hesitation in saying it was divine intervention," Musheer added.
