Actor Anupam Kher, on a visit to Bhopal, joined the anti-drug campaign awareness drive organised by the Madhya Pradesh Police at the Taj Hotel on Tuesday.

The campaign, titled De-addiction Starts With You, is an initiative by the MP Police to create awareness among the youth of the state about the adverse effects of narcotics and drugs.

Kher lauded the state-wide awareness drive and emphasised the importance of such campaigns and the role of the public in eradicating the menace of drugs. He articulated the need to educate the younger generation about the dangers of drug addiction.

According to the official, over 500 youngsters died in Madhya Pradesh due to drug abuse between January and October 2022. The official also stated that more than 3,200 kg of drugs worth over Rs. 80 crore have been seized across the state during the same period.

Several other celebrities, including actor Sanjay Dutt and singer Honey Singh, have also joined the campaign through video messages and expressed their support for the initiative.
