A brave mother in India fought a crocodile with her bare hands and an iron rod to save her son's life, sustaining injuries in the process. The harrowing incident occurred in a village in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, central India, when the woman, only identified as Kalawati, was washing clothes near the banks of thethren Beas River with her son, aged 11, on Tuesday, January 3.
Kalawati heard her son screaming in panic when a crocodile emerged from the water and grabbed him. The creature had seized the boy and was attempting to drag him into the river.
In a desperate bid to save her son, Kalawati rushed to his aid, grabbing the reptile's jaws and trying to pry them open. When the animal bit her hand, she grabbed an iron rod nearby and began beating the crocodile in an attempt to force it to release the boy.
After a vicious fight, the mother managed to get her son free. However, the boy was badly injured in the attack, and the crocodile escaped.
Both mother and son were taken to a hospital for treatment. The boy is currently undergoing medical care, while Kalawati is recovering from her injuries.
In an interview with local media, Kalawati said she fought the crocodile with everything she had to save her son. Her bravery has been praised by many in the region, with locals and officials admiring her courage and determination in the face of such a terrifying threat.
