Shiv Sena Leader Sanjay Raut Accuses Senior Maharashtra Leaders of Rs. 50,000 Crore Scam; What Will Amit Shah Do?

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has alleged that a huge scam worth Rs 50,000 crore involving land in Raigad district has taken place under the watch of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

In a series of tweets, Raut alleged that illegal activities encompassing land negotiation, grabbing, and allotting were underway in Shah's Raigad district with the knowledge and involvement of Shinde, who is also the state's tourism minister. "It is a very big scam of Rs 50,000 crore. The entire country should know about it," Raut said in a statement.

He further alleged that the land scam also involved some builder-politicians and bureaucrats. Their proximity to the powerful centres of authority helped them orchestrate this massive scam.

Raut has demanded either a probe by a joint team of the Enforcement Department (ED) and the Income Tax Department or by an independent inquiry officer of the rank of a joint secretary. It remains to be seen whether the Center will accede to these demands and investigate the allegations.

The scandal comes in the backdrop of increasing tensions between the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and the BJP in Maharashtra, which emerged during the recent civic polls.

Stay tuned as we bring you further updates on this developing story.
