Microsoft Confirms Upcoming Rollout of AI-Enhanced Windows Search for Windows 11

As Windows 10approaches the end of its support lifecycle, Microsoft is encouraging users toupgrade to Windows 11 by introducing a suite of new features. One of the mostsignificant updates is the AI-powered enhanced Windows Search, which willprovide users with an intuitive and efficient search experience. However, thisadvanced functionality will initially be available only on Copilot+ branded PCsequipped with Qualcomm, Intel, or AMD processors featuring dedicated neuralprocessing units (NPUs).

The feature willfirst be introduced to the Windows Insider community before being rolled out tothe wider public.

Yusuf Mehdi,Microsoft’s executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer,explained in a press release, "You no longer need to remember file namesand document locations, nor even specific names of words. Windows will betterunderstand your intent and match the right document, image, file, or email.AI-powered search makes it dramatically easier to find virtuallyanything."

Similar to Google’s“Search with Google Lens,” this enhanced Windows Search allows users to locatefiles, images, videos, and other content using simple text-based queries. Thenew feature integrates directly into the Windows 11 user interface, making iteasy to access through the Windows Search function. Powered by the system’sintegrated NPU, the AI-driven search can access both local storage and OneDriveto provide relevant results, improving the overall search experience forWindows 11 users.
