IT Hiring Expected to Rise by 8.5% Next Year Amid Growing Demand: Report

A survey byrecruitment platform Indeed predicts an 8.5% growth in IT hiring by the nextcalendar year. Following a slowdown late last year and earlier this year, demand for skilled IT talent is now on the rise. Indeed emphasized the need forbusinesses to strategize their hiring plans to meet this growing demand.

According to thesurvey, 70% of tech job postings on Indeed are for software-related roles.Leading the list is the application developer role (7.29%), followed bysoftware engineer (5.54%), full-stack developer (4.34%), senior softwareengineer (4.22%), and PHP developer (2.51%).

The dominance ofsoftware roles stems from the increasing reliance on software for operationalefficiency and innovation. This surge is also fueled by a thriving startupecosystem, which prioritizes hiring developers to scale products, and theongoing need for updates, security, and new features in existing software.

Sashi Kumar, Head ofSales at Indeed India, remarked, "The IT sector has long been a keyemployment driver. While hiring slowed in recent quarters due to globaluncertainties, the sector is now regaining momentum. Companies are ramping uprecruitment, with Global Capability Centers (GCCs) expected to play asignificant role, particularly in software and tech roles.”

The survey alsohighlights a strong alignment between job postings and job seeker interest.High demand for roles like full-stack developers and software engineers fromboth employers and candidates underscores the critical need for versatile andskilled IT professionals in today’s market.
