A tragic accident on Monday left eight dead and 45 others injured when a tanker collided with a tractor-trolley carrying devotees in the Khurja area of Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, crushing people in the trolley. The tanker, which was coming from the direction of Khurja, collided with the trolley carrying pilgrims who were returning from a local temple. Officials arrived at the scene and began efforts to extricate those trapped in the trolley. Sadly, eight people were declared dead at the scene, and 45 were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The tanker driver fled the scene, but police located and arrested him shortly after the tragic incident. Initial reports suggest that the driver lost control of the tanker, which veered into the opposite lane, and collided with the tractor-trolley.

"This was truly a horrific accident," State Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar commented. "The trolley driver apparently stalled the vehicle on the roadside, and the tanker driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with the trolley.

More lives could have been lost, and we are praying that those injured recover soon."

The tragedy has sparked discussions on road safety in the region, with many calling for further urgent action to prevent such heartbreak from happening again.
