Indian Coast Guard Leads Relief Operations in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh

In response to the torrential rains affecting Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has intensified its relief operations to protect vulnerable coastal communities. A total of 29 Disaster Response Teams (DRTs), comprising 148 trained personnel, have been mobilized across the affected regions. These specialized teams are equipped to perform critical tasks, including flood rescue operations, medical evacuations, and the distribution of emergency relief supplies to stranded populations.

To further ensure safety, the ICG has issued advisories urging fishermen to refrain from venturing into the sea until weather conditions stabilize. Coastal communities are being closely monitored, and necessary precautions are being taken to minimize risks during this adverse weather phase.

The ICG’s proactive and coordinated approach highlights its commitment to mitigating the impact of natural calamities on vulnerable populations. The teams are using advanced equipment to navigate challenging conditions, ensuring rapid response to emergencies and efficient delivery of aid.

In addition to immediate rescue and relief efforts, the ICG continues to collaborate with local administrations to streamline operations and provide timely updates on weather conditions. This comprehensive strategy aims to safeguard lives, reduce property damage, and build resilience among the coastal populations during the ongoing weather crisis.

The ICG’s readiness to respond swiftly underscores its vital role in disaster management, particularly in mitigating the effects of extreme weather events in India's coastal regions.
