₹8,000 Crore Allocated for Comprehensive Disaster Management Initiatives

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has unveiled three significant schemes aimed at strengthening disaster management infrastructure across India, with a combined budget exceeding ₹8,000 crore. These initiatives are designed to modernize response mechanisms, enhance preparedness, and mitigate risks associated with natural calamities.

A key component of the announcement is the modernization of fire brigade services in all states. This initiative focuses on equipping fire services with advanced technology, tools, and training to ensure efficient emergency response during disasters.

The second initiative targets flood mitigation in seven major cities that are highly vulnerable to flooding. By implementing comprehensive flood management strategies, the government aims to minimize the impact of waterlogging and safeguard urban populations from recurring flood-related challenges.

The third scheme addresses landslide prevention across 17 states prone to such geological hazards. The focus is on adopting proactive measures, such as slope stabilization, early warning systems, and infrastructure improvements, to reduce the risk of landslides and protect lives and property in vulnerable regions.

These measures reflect the government’s commitment to creating a robust disaster management framework. The emphasis on modernizing fire services, mitigating urban floods, and preventing landslides highlights a strategic approach to tackling diverse disaster-related challenges.

By allocating substantial resources and focusing on proactive measures, the initiatives aim to enhance India's resilience to natural and man-made disasters. The comprehensive scope of these schemes underscores the government's dedication to protecting lives, reducing economic losses, and ensuring the safety of communities nationwide.
